Herzlich willkommen am Sprachenzentrum, Herr Professor Dandy Dampson!
Die Geschäftsführung des Sprachenzentrums, Dr. Michael de Jong und Dott. Cristina Pontalti Ehrhardt, die Internationale Netzwerkkoordinatorin am ZLF für global.trex sowie Lektorin für Englisch Ophelia Blake, sowie die Teamkoordinatorin und Lektorin für Deutsch als Fremdsprache, Melanie Kunz, hießen Herrn Professor Dandy Dampson von der University of Education in Winneba, Ghana, am 24. Juni herzlich willkommen.
Im Fokus des Besuchs stand ein gegenseitiger Austausch über die jeweiligen Arbeitsbereiche und aktuelle Entwicklungen in der Sprachenpolitik sowie das Kennenlernen des vielfältigen Sprachenangebots und der innovativen Projekte am Sprachenzentrum. Insbesondere wurde das umfangreiche Kursangebot im Bereich Deutsch als Fremdsprache vorgestellt, welches zukünftigen Austauschstudierenden aus Winneba vielfältige Möglichkeiten bietet, ihre Deutschkenntnisse speziell für den akademischen Kontext zielgerichtet zu vertiefen.
Darüber hinaus diente der Besuch der Vorbereitung des geplanten Delegationsbesuchs an der University of Education in Winneba im Herbst. Gemeinsam wurden erste Potenziale für eine vertiefte Zusammenarbeit ausgelotet, insbesondere im Hinblick auf das DAAD-Lektorat für Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Winneba sowie den neu eingerichteten Bachelorstudiengang German Studies. Ziel ist es, Möglichkeiten einer nachhaltigen akademischen Kooperation in Lehre, Studierendenaustausch und gemeinsamen Projekten zu entwickeln.
Der Austausch mit Herrn Professor Dampson hat einmal mehr gezeigt, wie bereichernd Sprachenvielfalt ist, und dass die beeindruckende sprachliche Fülle Ghanas selbst das breite Angebot des Sprachenzentrums noch übertrifft!
Das Sprachenzentrum freut sich auf zukünftige Kooperationsmöglichkeiten mit der University of Education in Winneba und bedankt sich bei Herrn Professor Dandy Dampson herzlich für seinen Besuch sowie den wertvollen und inspirierenden Austausch.
A Warm Welcome to Professor Dandy Dampson at the Language Centre
On 24 June, the management of the Language Centre, Dr Michael de Jong and Dott Cristina Pontalti Ehrhardt, together with Ophelia Blake, International Network Coordinator at the Teacher Education Centre for global.trex (global teacher research and education exchange) and Lecturer in English, and Melanie Kunz, Team Coordinator and Lecturer in German as a Foreign Language, warmly welcomed Professor Dandy Dampson from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.
The visit centred on an exchange of ideas about the respective areas of work and current developments in language policy, as well as providing an opportunity to introduce the Language Centre’s wide range of language courses and innovative projects. Particular attention was given to the extensive programme in German as a Foreign Language, which offers future exchange students from Winneba a wide range of opportunities to develop their German language skills specifically for academic study.
The visit also served to prepare for the planned delegation visit to the University of Education, Winneba, this autumn. Initial opportunities for closer collaboration were explored, particularly in relation to the DAAD Lectureship in German as a Foreign Language at Winneba and the newly established bachelor’s degree programme in German Studies. The aim is to develop sustainable academic cooperation in teaching, student exchange, and joint projects.
The discussions with Professor Dampson once again demonstrated how enriching linguistic diversity can be—and that Ghana’s remarkable wealth of languages even surpasses the already extensive range of languages offered by the Language Centre.
The Language Centre looks forward to future opportunities for collaboration with the University of Education, Winneba, and thanks Professor Dampson for his visit and the inspiring exchange of ideas.
